Slagnäsforsen- Rapids

The beautiful Slagnäs rapids are a popular place to visit for both hikers and fishing enthusiasts alike. The 1,5 km (1 mi) of duckboards makes it an accessible area to experience on foot and here you can have a go at catching the famous Bergnäs trout in its natural surroundings.

Each June, the locals gather to take part in the fishing premiere . Most fish is caught with fishing reels and a wobbler but the fly fisher might also manage to get the attention of one of the big ones.

The Skellefte River, which the Slagnäs rapids is part of, offers plenty of opportunities to experience both calm lakes and bustling rapids with trout, perch, grayling, whitefish and pike. The nearby Bergnäsdammen and Lais river also offer interesting fishing.

The village of Slagnäs has a camping, a general store, gas station, the beautiful Slagnäs church, and a folk museum with old-timey buildings that offers Swedish fika in the summertime.

For fishing tips and more information on the Slagnäs rapids and its surroundings, pass by the Slagnäs general store or Slagnäs camping when you’re in the area. We also recommend a visit to Arjeplog Fishing Centre, situated at the fishing shop GK’s Fiske. And don’t forget to buy your fishing license before heading out to the waters!
