Preschool
Arjeplog’s preschool has at least one qualified preschool teacher per department, and the children are divided into groups of 1-3 years, 4 years and 5 years. Activities are characterised by outdoor activities, cultivation and elements of Sami themes. Children aged 1-4 eat at the preschool, and at the age of 5 they start eating in the primary school canteen in order to familiarise themselves with the school they will start next year. In addition to the municipal preschool, there is an independent preschool in the town centre and independent pedagogical care in Jäckvik.
Primary School
Arjeplog’s primary school, Silverskolan, has plenty of qualified teachers, classroom assistants and student health staff. Here we see all pupils and follow them from pre-school class to year 9 and this produces good results – we often have the highest proportion of passing grades in the whole country and we rank very well against other schools. Our school is mobile phone free and from Year 4 all pupils have their own computer.
Distance secondary education
We have a unique solution for upper secondary education. We call it Fjärrgymnasiet and it is apprenticeships where students study the upper secondary school subjects as distance learning given from Skellefteå to a classroom in Arjeplog. The practical subjects are learnt through apprenticeships in local businesses, and students also have classmates in Malå, Norsjö and Sorsele. If you want to study traditional upper secondary education, we have agreements with our good neighbours in Arvidsjaur and Piteå.
School transport
If you live outside the city centre and have children of school age, your children can be transported to and from school.
