Doktorsgården/The Doctor’s Residence

“Doktorsgården” was the residence of Dr. Einar Wallquist, the founder of the Silver Museum. He moved to Arjeplog in the early 1920s to work as a physician, and after a couple of years, he purchased a farm very close to the newly built clinic.

It was a two-story red-painted house that became his home for sixty years. Einar Wallquist put a personal touch on his residence, and the atmosphere still speaks of a creative individual who had a great ability to create a pleasant and cozy environment for himself and his family.

Every summer, the Silver Museum holds guided tours at Doktorsgården. During these tours, visitors can learn about Dr. Wallquist’s extensive life’s work, which besides his work as a physician, also included pursuits in art, writing, and a significant commitment to Arjeplog’s cultural history and community life.
